The Team.

Faye & Simon Fenton, Founders.

In May 2012 we took a leap of faith and set about transforming an old solicitors building into the beautiful space it is today.  Four months later and with much help from our family, friends and lovely builders, Barefoot was born.

What made you want to open your own studio? Faye.  I fell in love with yoga from the my very first class, pregnancy yoga with Cat Morgans back in 2004. I moved on to Ashtanga and other more dynamic forms and found it benefited my life in every way – from being a calmer parent to improving my running. I just love the way yoga makes my body feel so fluid and alive, I’d like everyone to experience that.

When my dad developed awful back problems, facing surgery at one point, I persuaded him to give gentle hatha yoga a go and amazingly he hasn’t looked back since. From then on I knew yoga would always play a big part in my life and wanted to help make it accessible to all.

Simon. I commission health and social care services and see the need for preventative self-care every day- we’re all living longer. Helping Faye set up the Barefoot project has been a brilliant way to improve our community’s wellbeing, and it’s great to see how the relaxing, non-clinical environment keeps people coming back for more. We’re passionate about creating new spaces for Birmingham, places to relax and just be. We used to run Harborne’s much-loved Fentons café, and this isn’t too different really, we’re just putting smiles on faces in a different way.
