What is Yoga? History of Yoga. Contemporary Yoga. Yoga philosophy and its relevance in today’s modern world.

Teaching Yoga
Knowing your Why; teaching from a place of authenticity.
Asana & sequencing. Adapting postures for Flow and Hatha classes. Sanskrit names & terms. Body language & cues. Alignment. Adjustments & assists. Pranayama & breath work.

Subtle Body & Meditation
Nadis. Chakras. Koshas. Granthis. Bandhas. Yoga Nidra. Meditation, mantra & mudras.

Anatomy
Directional terms. Postural issues. Body systems. Biomechanics. Safety & common injuries. Modifying postures for different abilities & conditions.

Broadening Your Yoga Landscape

There is an initial £20 Application Fee. If you are accepted on to the course, a £500 deposit will then be required within 7 days to reserve your place. These fees are non-refundable.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE?

– All training by fully qualified Barefoot teachers with input from specialist practitioners, for example, physiotherapists.

– 180 contact teaching hours with Barefoot teachers and associates
(a minimum of 35 non-contact hours in the form of assignments, pre-course study and ongoing self-study will be required).

– A comprehensive training resource pack to support your learning through the course and beyond.

– All ongoing and final weekend assessment sessions for the course.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

As a minimum, you will have been practising yoga for at least 2 years and be very comfortable holding the common asanas practised in Hatha or Flow based sequences. You’ll also be clear on why you’d like to teach or take your practice deeper. You do not need to know Sanskrit or to be able to perform advanced postures.

What we ARE looking for is compassionate, open-minded, yoga-mad life-lovers! Yoga teachers OF THE FUTURE to go out into the real world and make a difference to peoples’ lives on and off the mat.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

If it’s been a while since you sat down to write an essay, please don’t worry. You’ll be assessed by various methods, including journal keeping and class observation, on-line testing, some written assignments and practical teaching sessions.

This 9 month course is designed to give you plenty of time to practise your teaching skills and build confidence.
